David Spencer recently joined DRK Pharma Solutions to head the U.S. business for clinical trials. He has over 15 years experience in basic science research, where he focused in hematology/oncology, general/vascular surgery, and most notably in mucosal immunology (Crohn’s & Colitis) with Dr. Alan Levine and Dr. Claudio Fiocchi. He also worked at the Office of Technology Transfer with Michael Haag and Dr. Joseph Jankowski at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.

In industry, Mr. Spencer worked as an Executive Pharmaceutical Sales Specialist at AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals promoting life-saving medications for nearly eight years and transitioned into the CRO world in 2013. He started as Project Finance Manager and helped to spearhead the business development department at Robarts Clinical Trials (Alimentiv) with Jeff Smith and Michael Nicell and created the Translational Research Network with Dr. Brian Feagan. The network was a conglomeration of eight world-renowned inflammatory bowel disease research laboratories in Europe and North America, with the goal to centralize biospecimens to study early biomarkers of disease activity. From there David worked as Director of Business Development at Therapeutics Inc. with Dr. Dan Piacquadio, Manager of Business Development at W. R. Grace (a CDMO specializing in small molecule drug development) with Scott Martin, and Director of Business Development at Allucent with David Godwin. Mr. Spencer has specialized in several therapeutic areas including dermatology, infectious disease, hematology/oncology, immunology, rare and orphan diseases, to name a few.

David received his BA, MS, and MBA degrees from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, and currently works and resides in San Diego.
